Spring break is coming up and many families have opted for a staycation rather than go away. Parents are scrambling to come up with ideas to keep their kids entertained in a safe way. We have compiled a list of some of our favorite family friendly outdoor activities that are a short drive from many Westchester towns.
Boundless Adventures - Located in Purchase, Boundless Adventures is an aerial park unlike anything you've experienced before. With 9 total courses, you'll find yourself challenging your boundaries as you swing, climb, balance, traverse and zip-line through our treetop adventures. Visit their website to make a reservation.
Tappan Golf Center - This is the largest driving range in the country and while that alone is reason to go we love going for the go-karts and batting cages. You can get more information on what they offer and pricing on their facebook page.
Walkway Over The Hudson State Historic Park - This linear park spans the Hudson River between the Town of Lloyd in Ulster County and the City of Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County and is the longest pedestrian bridge in the world. Pack up your bikes and a picnic lunch. Park along the Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail and bike over the Hudson River. Once you get over the Hudson you can sit at the picnic tables provided and enjoy your lunch. If you are looking to bike without the drive check out the North County Trailway that goes from Eastview to Baldwin Place.

Storm King Art Center - Commonly referred to as Storm King and named after its proximity to Storm King Mountain, is an open-air museum located in Mountainville, New York. It contains what is perhaps the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the United States. We love walking the grounds and exploring all the art installations.
Red Rooster Drive-in - Red Rooster in Brewster, NY is a classic! Go for the mini golf, which is always a family favorite and stay for lunch and enjoy this '60s counter-serve spot with fast-food burgers, hot dogs & more in retro style.
Liberty Paintball - Located on Thunder Ridge in Patterson this is the premier paintball field in New York State. They have 17 unique playing fields for exciting play whether you’re a new player or a veteran. The playing fields feature buildings, two and three story towers, helicopters, spaceships, tanks, trenches and much more!
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation - This 4,315-acre park makes Ward Pound Ridge Reservation the county’s largest park. With its varied terrain and landscapes and miles of wooded trails, the park provides a variety of activities in all seasons. There are areas for picnicking, lean-to camping, fishing. This is one of our family's all time favorite places in Westchester.

Muscoot Farm - Muscoot Farm is a place where you can experience history, agriculture, and wildlife in a family-friendly atmosphere. Muscoot Farm was once a working dairy farm. Today it is a Westchester County park open to the public 362 days of the year. Little kids especially love to visit their 50+ animals by walking up to their pens or inside their barns. Muscoot is home to cows, horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and pigs.
If you decide to stay home for this spring break we hope you enjoy some of our suggested activities and make some great family memories.
